Caffé Central

I felt so compelled to write a review after what happened to me last week. Now, I've been here a few times before for some random bites and a drink that I had no memory of even though it had only been a month or so.

Last week I was exhausted, I thought a mango black tea sounded great and this was close enough. So, mango/lychee/peach black tea by itself is now a daily thing almost because it has just enough caffeine to not have me wired at night.

The thing that impressed me the MOST was when I was walking back to my office with that tea in one hand and a sandwich in the other, I fell. Like, on the side walk...hard, in front of people. Yep, embarrassing but not so much this time. THIS time I was just WAY too tired to be embarrassed BUT I was actually SO impressed that my drink did NOT spill whatsoever. They asked me if I was okay and i was like I SURE AM, LOOK AT MY TEA! Not a DROP spilled! That right there is 5 star material for me. That and their butternut squash quiche when they have is it divine.

Easy and quick in and out if you're in the area. Good looking food and tea. Have to say the folks behind the counter seemed to really care about what they were doing.

It's crowded because it's small but an obvious choice if you're nearby or in the garage. This place is in the entrance/exit to the parking garage.

I feel like some of the negative reviewers may have gone to the Burger King down the street by mistake, because this cute, local restaurant was great for me. I was impressed with the vegetarian dishes -- the Fugu Persimmon Bruschetta with Ricotta was a stand-out success, and the Roasted Beet Ravioli, was a pleasant surprise, not overly salty but still very flavorful. The service was quick and attentive.

Am I the only one who doesn't mind paying for bread? News flash: if you go to a restaurant and get the bread for "free," the restaurant is just raising the prices of the other dishes to pay for bread for everyone. This restaurant gives you the option to opt-out and not order bread, if you want. Love it!

The only dish that missed the mark for me was the Risotto with Wheat Berries, Squash and Garbanzos. The texture and temperature was delicious, but the flavor was a little flat. The Mushrooms Reggiano on top were perfectly cooked, and they _made_ the dish.

I hope all these people leaving poor reviews keep their word and stay away so there is more for me.

Holy, slap me sideways is this place the BOMB. My fiancé and I bopped in here in a whim, scanned the menu back & forth 20 times before we could finally narrow down 2 things we wanted - everything sounded incredible.

I finally choice the Mambo Italiano Tartine - and I gotta be honest, this was the best mother effing food choice I've made in this city in a while. The scramble was so creamy with bacon & cheese, topped with some magical tomato aoli, settled on a brioche bunz. My guy had the chorizo tartine and barely said a word our whole meal because he was face first in it.

Needless to say, this is our new fav spot.
